India’s Smart City Growth Story

November 3, 2025
In a significant statement reflecting India’s technological ambitions, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Dholera city in Gujarat is poised to become one of the country’s major hubs for high-tech manufacturing and semiconductor production in the near future. His remarks have placed Dholera firmly on the global industrial map.
During his visit and high-level review meeting, the minister received a detailed presentation on ongoing infrastructure work related to power, logistics, social infrastructure, and connectivity in and around Dholera. The region’s rapid progress under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) has made it an ideal choice for large-scale technology and semiconductor industries.
Projects by companies such as Tata, Micron, and CG Semicon are already being established in Dholera and nearby Sanand, reinforcing the government's confidence in Gujarat as India’s next manufacturing powerhouse.
The announcement comes shortly after India’s first semiconductor fabrication plant was approved in Dholera. With strong policy backing, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and fast-track approvals, the region is evolving into the core of India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
The minister highlighted that the government’s long-term goal is to make India self-reliant in chip production and develop a robust supply chain for sectors like EVs, aerospace, and defense technology. Dholera is set to lead this transition.
Dholera offers world-class infrastructure with direct access to national highways, upcoming metro connectivity, and the Dholera International Airport. These developments are supported by a reliable 24x7 power supply, a sustainable water system, and a digital command control network — essential for modern manufacturing ecosystems.
The city’s strategic location between Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, and the DMIC corridor further positions it as a logistics and export hub for high-value industries.
With both central and state governments offering strong policy support, investors and industrial developers are eyeing Dholera as the next big growth destination. Land prices are still at early-development levels, making it an ideal time for investment in both residential and industrial plots.
Union Minister Vaishnaw’s vision reaffirms Dholera’s potential to become India’s high-tech manufacturing and semiconductor capital. As new factories and R&D facilities take shape, the city is moving closer to becoming a globally competitive, self-sustaining smart industrial township.
Dholera isn’t just building factories — it’s building the future of India’s industrial revolution.
